“Satir Change Model”

Useful 8′ explanation based on a single slide, with annotations set out in support of the talk.

Re Satir’s pracctice, what is missing here is her thinking in terms of “wholes” and balance, her deep empathy for whole family network/group, and her fearless, nurturing intent. “Systemic mothering”, if you will.

The potency of her practice is demonstrated by the fact that, two generations later, thought leaders in the private sector – from big picture organizational development executives to technical people in IT projects – find it relevant and helpful. One likely reason for this is that the pace and complexity of change in private sector organizations incresingly threatens to traumatize individuals and their relationships in the typically short-lived groups in which they work.
