Laid a foundation for managing design and problem-solving meetings in a participatory, systemic way. Emphasized the need for the roles of facilitator and group recorder and their respective responsibilities for maintaining visable agendas and group records in real time during meetings. The classic book on it is How to Make Meetings Work, Doyle and Strauss (1976) The book assumes agendas and group memories will be kept on flip charts and blackboards. However, what it has to say about design meeting purposes, roles, and processes is as relevant in our day of whiteboards, sticky notes, and infinite canvas platforms as it was where and when it began, back in the mid-1970’s in what was beginning to be called “Silicon Valley”. Its key contructs are better known and more wide-spread today than then for good reasons.
